The two representatives of Ikorodu’s State Constituencies in the Lagos State House of Assembly, have assured the Education Secretary (ES), Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, of their maximum support and collaboration to advance adequate primary education for every child.

Odumbo had, on Tuesday, met with the duo – Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, representative of Ikorodu Constituency I and Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), Ikorodu Constituency II, at the Assembly Complex as part of his strategic engagement with stakeholders.

In a statement released after the visitation, Alhaji Odumbo thanked the lawmakers for their support towards his emergence as the ES, and their commendable representations since assuming office.

He also lauded the duo for defying the stereotype that first-term legislators are often ineffective, describing them instead as exemplary performers.

The ES informed the lawmakers of his fruitful tour of about 50 primary schools out of 70 in the Division in his two months stay in office. Equally, he disclosed his recent activity on creation of new vocational centres across both constituencies to address the Psychomotor education.

He also emphasized the need for continued synergy and collaboration to advance the THEMES Agenda of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and also uphold the LASUBEB mantra of ‘Leave No Child Behind ‘.

The Honourable members, in turn, demonstrated deep understanding of the LGEA’s mission, and pledged their commitment to strengthening primary education through robust budget appropriation and oversight.

Hon. Ogunleye, in his remarks, requested a comprehensive list of primary schools in Ikorodu Central, West, and North that are in dire need of rehabilitation.

“His proactive stance reflects a clear intention to channel legislative resources towards infrastructural upliftment, ensuring that schools within his constituency are conducive for learning and growth. His call for data-driven intervention signals a new era of responsive governance rooted in community needs”, Alhaji Odumbo said.

Also speaking, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of close collaboration with the LGEA to streamline his oversight and appropriation responsibilities. He requested a detailed collation of primary school needs within his constituency – Imota, Ijede and Igbogbo/Baiyeku, and pledged to make the Authority’s work more seamless and impactful.

In a touching gesture of legacy, he announced plans to give AUI Primary School, Ijede, which is his alma mater, a facelift by rehabilitating block of classrooms, and also name the Art & Craft Centre building ‘AMA Centre’, as a tribute to his roots and a beacon of inspiration for future generations.
